Mohammad Yousuf Jahangir, Afghanistan’s Muay Thai athlete, has secured a silver medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games by defeating his Saudi opponent and is set to compete for the gold medal against a Turkish athlete.
The Afghanistan National Olympic Committee, Physical Education and Sports Directorate said in a message on its X that Jahangir competed in the 75-kilogram category against his Saudi rival in Riyadh on Thursday.
With this victory, he confirmed his silver medal in the tournament.
Notably, this is Afghanistan’s first-ever silver medal in the history of the Islamic Solidarity Games.
Jahangir had previously defeated an Indonesian opponent in his opening match.
He is scheduled to compete for the gold medal against a Turkish athlete today (Friday).
