While Afghanistan faces significant political and economic challenges, the United Nations reports that over the past six months, more than two million Afghan refugees have been forcibly expelled from Iran and Pakistan, adding economic and employment pressures on the Taliban government.
The World Bank projects that Afghanistan’s economy could grow by over three percent this year. However, some economic experts argue that such growth is unlikely due to persistent drought, high unemployment and declining international aid.
