The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming 2025 Asia Cup, scheduled to begin on September 9.
The Rashid Khan-led side will open their campaign against Hong Kong at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Star spinners Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Allah Ghazanfar have returned to the T20I setup after recovering from injuries.
Ahead of the Asia Cup, Afghanistan will feature in a Tri-Nation T20 series in Sharjah against hosts UAE and Pakistan as part of their preparations.
Placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, Afghanistan will be aiming for their maiden Asia Cup title. Their best performance came in the 2018 ODI edition, where they reached the Super Four, while in the 2022 T20 edition they fell short at the same stage.
The squad boasts strong spin options, with Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Ghazanfar all included.
