At least nine people were killed and 31 others injured after a passenger bus overturned and fell into a ditch in the Chakwal district of Punjab province on Sunday, according to media reports.
Geo News reported that the bus was travelling from Islamabad to Lahore when it veered off the motorway near Dhok Sial and plunged into a ditch.
Police said the accident occurred due to the driver’s negligence.
The injured were transported to Kallar Kahar Trauma Centre and the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), while some were later moved to the Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi for further treatment.
The deputy commissioner stated that all necessary medical facilities were being provided to the wounded.
According to police, the bus driver fled the scene following the incident, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest him. A case has been registered on the complaint of the Motorway Police.
