Armed assailants attacked the Justice Department building in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province on Saturday, leaving nine people dead — including three attackers, and injuring 22 others, according to media reports.
The attack took place this morning on Azadi Road in Zahedan, the capital of the restive southeastern province, the Tasnim News Agency reported.
Citing the Public Relations Office of the Quds Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces, the report said six civilians were killed and 22 others wounded, most of whom were ordinary citizens. Among the dead were also a woman and a child.
The report added three of the attackers, wearing explosive vests, were killed during ensuing clashes with security forces.
According to available information, militant group Jaish al-Adl has claimed responsibility for the attack.
