Six individuals have been killed and 18 others injured as a result of a coalmine collapse in Karkar area of northern Baghlan province, police said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the provincial police headquarters quoted Maulvi Abdullah Hamid head of Northern Coal Company as saying the incident occurred due to a sudden collapse of third shaft of Karkar coalmine.
He said six people lost their lives and 18 others were injured in the incident.
According to him, rescue teams reached the scene and evacuated the dead and injured to the Baghlan Central Hospital.
