Around 40 Afghan residents of Canada’s Ottawa City have held a meeting with Yasir Naqvi, member of the Canadian Parliament, and discussed problems faced by Afghans who recently arrived in Canada.
Matter related to the facilitation of newly arriving Afghans in Canada, Afghan women and girls education, work, issue related to the Afghans who are left behind, accelerating their evacuation process and the economic condition of Afghanistan were discussed.
Dr. Ibrahim Shinwari and Shabnam Salehi have talked on the representation of visiting delegation, they referred to problems faced by newly arriving Afghans, accelerating the process of Afghans who are left behind, Afghan girls and women’s education and the economic condition of Afghanistan.
Ibrahim Shinwari demanded acceleration of evacuation process for the Afghans who are left behind and said Canadian government should continue their cooperation in the area of education, health, support to women and support to the victims of natural disaster.
Shabnam Salehi also asked the Canadian government to put pressure on the acting Afghan authorities so they could hear to the legitimate demands of the people of Afghanistan.
Salehi added: “We hope the Canadian government support the interest of the people of Afghanistan and condemned the current monopolists, former warlords and corrupt elements, we ask the Canadian government to draw the attention of incumbent authorities to their responsibilities to allow public freedom and ensure their full participation in the decision-making process.”
Canadian Parliamentarian Yasir Naqvi said he was happy to talk with Afghans openly today.
He said: “I know that Afghans have a lot of problems and we should address these problems together and share new opportunities with each other.”
Yasir said Canadian government pay more attention to education, health and social area and priorities them.
He said: “Afghans and Afghanistan is currently in terrible condition but I hope that this situation will improve.”
He said Afghans living in Canada should get full advantage of their experiences; they should work hard so they could have a bright future. He said Canadian government strived to settle 40,000 Afghans in Canada.
