Nine Afghan athletes are participating in the ongoing “University International Sports Festival” in Yekaterinburg (Russia), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.
MoFA deputy spokesman Zia Ahmad Takal wrote on his X handle 4000 students from 282 universities of 36 countries will contest for 191 medal events across 14 sports in the festival that commenced on August 19.
Kabul University announced sending a nine-member team of students from Kabul University and Kabul Education University to participate in these competitions.
The university in a statement said the Afghan athletes will be in Russia for 25 days and will compete in wrestling, water sports, judo, sambo, boxing and taekwondo.
