Afghan diplomats and new arrivals celebrated the 104th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence in Ottawa, the capital of Canada.
The celebration ceremony, which was held in the courtyard of the City Hall, the tricolor flag of Afghanistan was hoisted by Ambassador Hassan Saroush.
In the second part of the ceremony, the ambassador and the former member of the Human Rights Commission, Shabnam Salehi, addressed the gathering.
Saroush said although the people of Afghanistan had faced many problems in the past two years, but the Independence Day had historical significance and was celebrated in a befitting manner.
Similarly, Salehi said after the 2021 political change, a wrong image of Afghanistan had been portrayed to the world. It was necessary for Afghans living abroad to paint a true picture of their homeland.
She added Afghans in Canada were striving to create a positive environment of unity and cooperation with a strong will to live in love and unity and share their experiences and explore possibilities.
According to Salehi, such work by Afghans will have good results for their next generation in Canada and will lead to the establishment of a strong Afghan community.
