The Azizi Foundation Head Mirwais Azizi has announced the implementation of over $10 billion investment plan at a gathering held in the Kabul Inter-Continental Hotel.
The projects in which the investment would be made included the 400-bed Cancer Hospital, 200-bed Meternity Hospital, the construction of medical university, nursing institute and school and the generation of 200MW electricity.
Mirwais Azizi said that $500 million will be invested in building a 400-bed standard cancer hospital in Kabul, where all services will be free.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar, deputy prime minister for economic affairs, said the launch of development projects by Azizi Foundation in different areas was positive step for private sector and it would help generate work opportunities for people.
He said the Azizi Foundation begin work on some large-scale development projects in the 8th Municipality District of Kabul.
He added that the projects include a 400-bed standard hospital for cancer treatment in Kabul, a 200-bed maternity hospital for mother and child safety, standard schools, a nursing institute, a medical university, an orphanage, and a 200-megawatt power generation project.
Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi Khadim, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office, said that the construction of a hospital for cancer treatment in Kabul by the Azizi Foundation is a new hope and opportunity for Afghans who cannot afford treatment.
Maulvi Noor Jalal Jalali, the acting minister of public health in Afghanistan, said at the gathering “The number of cancer cases in Afghanistan is increasing, and there are many reasons for this, and one of the reasons is the use of various weapons by foreign forces in the past twenty years.” He added, without giving details, that the proposal to build a 200-bed hospital for the treatment of cancer has been approved by the leadership of Taliban.
Acting Minister of Water and Energy Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor welcomed the investment in the country by the Azizi Foundation and assured the foundation of full cooperation.
He said that according to initial estimates and surveys, Afghanistan can produce thousands of megawatts of electricity and currently, including domestic production and imported electricity, there is 1,000 megawatts of electricity.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid said that Afghanistan is facing problems in importing quality medicines.
He said that if attention is paid to the standard production of medicines domestically, a large part of Afghanistan’s needs will be met.
