The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in a report says about 118.5 million girls around the world are deprived of education.
The UN agency said in a fresh report today that there was a need to increase the budget for educational equality between men and women and such action should be implemented right away.
According to the report, women account for two-thirds of the 771 million young people in the world who lack basic literacy skills.
The UNESCO report comes as more than 685 days have passed since girls above the sixth grade in Afghanistan are not allowed to go to school and universities.
