Chinese leader Xi Jinping has congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump on his re-election, the foreign ministry in Beijing says.

Given their common interests and broad space for cooperation, the two countries could become partners and advance shared prosperity for the good of the two nations and the whole world.
“The important thing is to respect each other’s core interests and major concerns and find a proper solution,” he stressed.
The Taiwan issue concerned China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Xi said, urging the US to approach it with prudence.
He added the two sides should follow the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, work more closely together.
For his part, Trump said he valued his relations with President Xi. He hoped for continued discussions, while looking forward to meeting the Chinese leader soon.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and other major issues of mutual interest, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, Trump said: “The call was a very good one for both China and the USA.” They also discussed trade, fentanyl, TikTok and other topics.
On his social media platform, Trump wrote: “President Xi and I will do everything possible to make the world more peaceful and safe!.”
