Afghan forces retaliated to mortar shelling from Pakistan, but the clash has come to an end, local sources in southeastern Khost province said on Friday.
A local government source said Pakistani forces fired rockets into Dabgi area of Alisher district last night, prompting Afghan forces to retaliate.
The midnight shelling from across the Durand Line triggered a clash between the two sides, the source told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The source said the Afghan forces remained unharmed in the clash and calm now prevailed in the area.
A resident of the area told Pajhwok that the fighting began at midnight and continued until 4am.
He added both sides used light and heavy weapons, forcing some residents to leave their homes out of fear.
Taliban has not yet officially commented on the clash that came a few days after Afghan and Pakistani forces clashed in the said area.
