The opening One-Day International (ODI) between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe has been abandoned due to rain, says a media report.
The match at the Harare Sports Club had to be called off after 9.2 overs of play on Tuesday, according to the Cricket website espncricinfo.com.
Earlier, the game began nearly four behind schedule owing to persistent rain and was curtailed to a 28-overs-a-side affair.
Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi opted to bowl, given the overcast conditions. Azmatullah Omarzai and Fazalhaq Farooqi gave the hosts a tough time.
Tadiwanashe Marumani fell to an in-dipper from Omarzai, who removed Brian Bennett on the next ball.
AM Ghazanfar had Dion Myers trapped in front of the stumps before Omarzai removed Curran in the eighth over, caught behind.
Omarzai struck again three balls later, having Sean Williams caught by Ikram Alikhil.
But two balls into the 10th over, rain resumed and rhe match had to be abandoned. Omarzai, the pick of Afghan bowlers, captured four scalps.
The second ODI is scheduled for December 19, while the third and final match will take place on December 21.
Earlier, the national squad had won the T20 series against the hosts by 2-1.
The ODI series will be followed by a two-match Test series. The first Test is slated for December 26-30 at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, while the second match will be played from January 2 to 6 at the same venue.
