The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has named squads for upcoming T20 and One-Day International (ODI) series against Zimbabwe.
During their tour of Zimbabwe, Afghanistan would play three T20 and as many ODI matches, as well as two Tests, ACB said in a statement.
The first T20 is scheduled for December 11, while the second and third fixtures will take place on December 13 and 14 respectively at the Harare Sports Club.
The first ODI is slated for December 17, the second for December 19 and the third for December 21.
Star mystery spinner Mujeeb-ul-Rahman has returned to both ODI and T20 squads. He had been sidelined with a right phalanx (hand) sprain and competed in the Abu Dhabi T10 in November.
Afghanistan’s dashing opener Ibrahim Zadran will miss the tour as he is still recovering from an ankle surgery.
Afghanistan have added the 24-year-old top-order batter Zubaid Akbari to their T20I squad. This marks Zubaid’s maiden international call-up.
ACB Chief Selector Ahmad Shah Salamkhel said: “It’s a great feeling to see our frontline spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman recover from his injury. He is an essential member of our squad, and we hope he continues to shine for Afghanistan.”
He added Zubaid Akbari and Darwish Rasooli had been consistent performers, not only in domestic cricket but also in the recent ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
