Former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Peace Process Zalmay Khalilzad has said that the Doha Agreement was the only formal pact for interaction between the new US government and the Taliban.
Addressing a gathering at Florida University, the former US envoy said the Taliban adhered to the Doha agreement and it could be the basis for interaction between the two sides.
He said: “I don’t want to raise expectations, but I emphasize that the same Doha agreement can be a framework for cooperation.”
It is pertinent to mention that Khalilzad and Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar on February 29, 2020, signed Doha Agreement.
