On October 12, a vibrant gathering in Vancouver, Canada brought together several Afghans who urged the international community to uphold human rights and express solidarity with the Khyber Tribal Jirga.
Organized by the Afghan National Cultural Society, the event drew dozens of attendees.
Participants emphasized that tens of thousands of Pashtuns convened in Khyber, united in their quest to determine their own fate and safeguard their rights, seeking to liberate themselves from decades of oppression by Pakistan.
They highlighted that the Khyber Jirga exemplifies the unity of the Pashtun people and represents the true spirit of this noble nation.
Speakers underlined that for over four decades, Afghanistan has suffered devastation at the hands of Pakistan, with Punjab exploiting Pashtuns for its strategic interests—destroying their regions under the guise of combating terrorism, crippling their economy, and plundering their natural resources.
At the conclusion of the gathering, participants declared their unwavering support for the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement. This event coincides with a global wave of solidarity among Afghans and Pashtuns, manifested through protests, gatherings, and meetings in support of the tribal jirga.
Originally scheduled to commence last Friday, the Jirga began yesterday afternoon due to attacks and disruptions by Pakistani forces and is set to conclude today, with significant decisions expected to be made.
Notably, this marks the first time tens of thousands of Pashtuns have united for a common cause.
