We had the pleasure of visiting the Afghan artist Ustad Mushfiq Hashimi’s arts company Inc school of music and visual arts in Ottawa, the capital of Canada.
For the past two decades, Hashimi has dedicated himself to teaching music to young people. In addition to his role as a musician, he is also a talented calligrapher and painter.
In the inaugural session of Ghatul, we engaged in an insightful discussion with Hashimi. He shared his artistic journey, experiences, and achievements, and showcased his stunning works of calligraphy and painting.
Hashimi’s versatility extends beyond visual arts; he sings in twelve languages. During the program, he performed a selection of songs and qawwalis, his melodious voice enriching the experience and satisfying our artistic cravings.
This program offers a comprehensive look into Mushfiq Hashimi’s multifaceted artistic life, encompassing music, calligraphy, and painting.
