One person died and a woman and two children among including six people were injured as a result of flash floods in eastern Kunar province, an official said on Sunday.
Head of Natural Disasters Department Ehsanullah told Said heavy flash floods and rains played havoc in Lamtak-Kodo and Sharolo areas of Narang district last night.
About 85 residential houses, 200 acres of agricultural land, two kilometers of road and a water canal were completely destroyed in heavy flash floods, he added.
Ehsanullah said: “The heavy rains and flash floods in Narang district left one person died, six people including two children and a woman injured and 30 animals perished”.
He said a survey team was quickly sent to the flood-affected villages and vowed to help the affectees in cooperation with relevant international charity organizations.
The affected families asked the government and charity foundations to help them with shelters.
“Yesterday (evening) rains and flash floods lashed our village and the surrounding wall of our house and two rooms were completely destroyed”: Noorullah, a resident explained.
Saodagar Khan, another resident, said two rooms of his house caved in as a result of flash floods last night, killing five animals.
“We are very poor people, I had a house, most of it is destroyed and my animals also wasted”.
Earlier, flash floods had caused financial losses to people in some districts of the province.
