Sudan’s Public Health Ministry says 388 people have died of cholera in the war-torn country over the past three months.
Sudan Tribune quoted government officials as saying the number of cholera cases had reached 12,896 across the country.
The epidemic has spread mostly in the eastern parts of the country where the war-displaced people (IDPs) have taken shelter, according to the report.
The Health Ministry says cholera has spread in 10 of Sudan’s18 provinces, with most of the cases recorded in Kassala and Gedaref states.
In 2017, the epidemic had affected 22,000 Sudanese in the course of two months and had killed 700 of them.
Cholera is a contagious disease that causes diarrhea, a loss of body fluids and finally leads to death.
