Following a request from the host country, Afghanistan will close its embassy in London on September 27, says a senior diplomat.
Afghan Ambassador to the UK Zalmai Rassoul wrote on X the decision had been made on the basis of a request from the British government.
Rassoul said the embassy of Afghanistan in London was scheduled to officially close on September 27, 2024.
Last week, Germany confirmed a halt to consular services in Berlin and Bonn. Such services to Afghans in Germany will be provided by the consulate in Munich, which interacts with the Taliban
On July 30, the foreign ministry in Kabul had announced consular services offered by Afghan embassies in London, Belgium, Berlin, Bonn, Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy, Greece, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Canada and Australia were no longer acceptable.
