Weeks after his election as Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian is due to participate in the BRICS summit in Russia.
The Iranian leader is also expected to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the meeting in Kazan city.
“I believe he will participate in the BRICS summit in Kazan. We are currently preparing for this visit,” said the Iranian ambassador to Russia.
State news agency TASS quoted Kazem Jalali as saying they were trying to make the trip useful and successful for bilateral relations.
Besides addressing the summit, Pezeshkian plans to meet Putin and other leaders, as well as Iranian community members in Russia.
The main event of Russia’s presidency of the international organisation for the current year will be the BRICS Summit in Kazan in October 2024.
