Amid mounting tensions in the Middle East, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has arrived in Moscow for talks with Russian leaders.
“Yes, he has already arrived in Moscow,” Russia’s special presidential representative for the Middle East and African Mikhail Bogdanov told TASS news agency.
Abbas is likely to meet President Putin today (Tuesday), according to Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal, who said the visiting president would also hold talks with Arab ambassadors.
The main topic of the discussion would be the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The two sides “will talk about Russia’s role and what can be done.”
Nofal commented: “We are in a very difficult situation, and Russia is a country close to us. We need to consult.”
