More than 2,000 children have been wounded in US and Israeli attacks on Iran since the start of the conflict, a senior Iranian official said.
Director of Iran’s Emergency Medical Services Organisation Jafar Miadfar said a total of 2,115 injured victims were under the age of 18, while 221 children were killed in the US-Israeli strikes.
He said 124 of the victims were under the age of five and 70 were under two years old.
He added that 258 women were also killed and 4,993 others injured, stressing that the victims had no role in military activities.
Miadfar said that 18 children under the age of five were among those killed.
According to him, the highest number of casualties was recorded in Tehran, Khuzestan, Lorestan, Isfahan, Kermanshah and Ilam provinces.
He also said that 26 health workers were killed in the attacks.
The United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, which were followed by retaliatory strikes from Tehran, leading to continued clashes between the two sides.
The two sides agreed to a two-week ceasefire last week.
Washington and Tehran also held talks in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on Saturday, but the meeting ended without reaching an agreement.
