Large demonstrations against US President Donald Trump were held in dozens of American cities on Saturday under the banner “No Kings,” a media report said.
Organisers had planned more than 3,200 events in all 50 states following two earlier nationwide protests that drew millions of participants, Reuters reported.
Significant gatherings took place in major cities including New York, Dallas, Philadelphia and Washington, while many smaller communities also held their own “No Kings” rallies, according to the organisers.
The demonstrations challenged a series of Trump’s policies, with participants criticising issues ranging from immigration enforcement to the administration’s handling of foreign tensions.
Actor Robert De Niro, who joined one of the protests, said no previous US president had represented “such an existential threat to our freedoms and security.”
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz told demonstrators that their opposition to Trump and his policies reflected “the heart and soul” of what is good about the United States.
The latest demonstrations follow earlier protests in January in response to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in Minnesota.
