The Afghan Embassy in Saudi Arabia has announced that the process of transferring passport information for Afghans living in the country will begin next Monday.
According to reports, the “information transfer” process generally refers to an administrative procedure in which a person’s personal details are recorded and transferred from one document, such as a passport, to another document or system. For example, Afghans residing in Saudi Arabia on the basis of a Pakistani passport can register and align their original Afghan identity and information with their Afghan passport. This is intended to clarify their legal identity, reduce complications, and make residency, employment, and other official procedures easier.
In a statement issued today, the Afghan Embassy in Saudi Arabia said that, following the efforts of the Afghan Embassy in Riyadh and with the continued cooperation of the Saudi government, the information transfer process will begin at Saudi passport offices starting next Monday, March 30.
The statement noted that applicants should keep the following points in mind for the information transfer process: create an account on the embassy’s website, complete the special information transfer form, ensure that the Afghan and Pakistani passports match in name, father’s name, and date of birth, upload copies of required documents such as passports, tazkira, and iqama, and book an appointment through the system before visiting the embassy.
The source added that applicants must first obtain an appointment through the embassy’s website. After an appointment is scheduled, a written message will be sent to the registered phone number. People are advised not to visit the embassy without an appointment.
The embassy also stated that those who already have an Afghan passport matching their Pakistani passport may visit the embassy after securing an appointment.
The Afghan Embassy in Saudi Arabia further said that applicants holding both Afghan and Pakistani passports may also submit both passports and related documents for the information transfer process through the Afghan Consulate General in Jeddah.
