US President Donald Trump has said the war with Iran will end “very soon”.
However, an Iranian military commander warned that the United States and Israel are not in a position to end the conflict at will.
Trump described the war with Iran as a “short-term excursion” and said it would conclude “very soon”, according to The Guardian. He added that the conflict was “very complete, pretty much” and ahead of schedule.
The US president also indicated he was not yet declaring the mission accomplished, saying: “We have already won in many ways, but we have not won enough.”
He stressed that the operation would only end once Tehran no longer had the capacity to launch attacks against the United States, Israel, or any US allies in the region for an extended period.
Trump also threatened to strike the Islamic Republic much harder if it blocked the flow of oil through the vital Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Tasnim News Agency reported that Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said the United States and Israel were not in a position to end the war whenever they wished.
“There is no end to this war,” he said, adding that the United States and Israel must “show regret for their actions.”
