Former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Peace Zalmay Khalilzad has urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the international community to censure Pakistan’s military strikes on Afghanistan.
In a post on X, Khalilzad said thirteen people had been killed in the air attacks.
He called on OIC and the broader international community to denounce the strikes, adding that carrying out such attacks during the holy month of Ramadan underscores their brutality.
The Pakistani military carried out airstrikes on a religious seminary in southeastern Paktika province and on residential areas in Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar on Saturday night.
Reports said 13 members of a single family, including women and children, were martyred and nine others wounded. Five people remain missing.
Meanwhile, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan Richard Bennett has voiced deep concern over civilian casualties resulting from the strikes.
