Two consignments totalling 48 tonnes of substandard cement have been returned to Uzbekistan via the Hairatan port, the Afghanistan Standard and Quality Authority (ASQA) said on Saturday.
In a post on X, ASQA stated that the consignments were technically assessed during the quality control process but failed to meet the required standards and were therefore not permitted to enter the country’s markets.
The authority said that quality control of imported goods at all ports continues in a transparent, orderly and stringent manner, emphasising that no compromise will be made regarding the entry of low-quality or harmful materials that could pose a threat to public health.
ASQA urged traders and importers to comply with domestic standards prior to importing goods and to cooperate in ensuring the supply of safe and quality products to the market.
