The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved a plan aimed at preventing aid from reaching the Afghan government.
Reports indicate that the plan, recently approved by the committee, seeks to block the transfer of US financial aid to Taliban.
The committee’s chairman, Jim Risch, stated that more than 2,000 Americans were killed and over 20,000 others injured during the war in Afghanistan.
He described sending US taxpayer money to Afghanistan as “an insult to the victims of the war.”
At the same time, Zabihullah Mujahid, chief spokesman for Taliban, reiterated that the United States has not provided any financial aid to the Islamic Emirate and that the funds are being distributed in Afghanistan exclusively through international humanitarian organizations.
