At least nine Afghan migrants have been killed and seven others injured in a traffic accident in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province, a media report said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a Peugeot 405 carrying Afghan migrants veered onto the opposite lane and collided with another vehicle, the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported, citing Mehdi Khamer, the police chief of Sistan and Baluchestan.
Reports said the migrants were travelling from Saravan toward Khash.
The injured were transferred by emergency services at Imam Khomeini Hospital in Khash district.
The incident follows a similar tragedy last week, when two vehicles carrying Afghan migrants overturned in the same province, leaving at least 13 people dead and seven others injured.
