Former president Hamid Karzai has once again stressed the need to provide educational opportunities to all girls and boys in the country.
On the occasion of the 106th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence, Karzai said the country’s freedom and independence lied in national strength achieved through unity and an educated human resource.
“We are proud to be the heirs of those people who fought with honor and strong will to gain the country’s independence and find their rightful place among nations and did not stop until they achieved this goal.”
Karzai stressed that preserving this valuable heritage and passing it on to future generations was possible only when Afghanistan, as a common home for all people, enjoyed lasting peace and stability.
He said the country’s youth must pursue extensive education and compete with each other in achieving specialization and higher academic levels.
The country’s freedom and independence are embedded in national strength, he said, adding national strength was achieved through unity and an educated human resource.
“The country’s educated human resource is only possible when all children of the country, whether girls or boys, are provided with public education. Similarly, national understanding is imperative and necessary to strengthen unity and consensus among the people and prevent foreign interference.”
