One person was killed and two teenagers were injured as heavy flash floods unleashed havoc in central Logar province, an official and residents said on Monday.
Juma Gul, a resident of Azra district, told Pajhwok Afghan News a young man lost his life due to the flash floods in Bar-e-Chutra area and two teenagers were injured in Akbar Khel area last night.
He explained two individuals were rescued from the flood by local residents.
Wali Khan, another resident of Azra district, said the floods destroyed numerous residential homes, mosques, highways, and bridges, and destroyed hundreds of acres of agricultural land and crops.
He asked the government to provide emergency assistance to flood-affected families in Azra district.
On the other hand, governor spokesman Sediq Ahmad Sediqqi, confirmed that floods caused heavy damage to people in Azra district following heavy rainfall last day and night.
According to Sediqi, there is no accurate information about the damage caused by the floods in the district, but a survey of affected families has been started, and emergency assistance will be provided to them once it is completed.
Recently, flash floods in Azra district caused severe damage to agriculture crops, Abdul Basir Shahid, press officer for Agriculture and Livestock Department said.
