At least 25 people have been killed and 25 others injured in a traffic accident in southwestern Kenya, according to a media report on Saturday.
Al Jazeera reported that the accident occurred on Friday while the bus was travelling from the city of Kakamega to Kisumu.
The driver lost control of the vehicle as it approached an intersection at high speed, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a ravine
Among those who died were “10 women, a girl aged 10, and 10 men”, a local official said.
Health authorities said 29 people were initially reported injured, but four later died in hospital.
Kenyan police say speeding is a major factor in traffic accidents in the country and across the East African region, where roads are often narrow and poorly maintained.
