At least 30 people were injured after a driver deliberately drove his car into a crowd outside a nightclub in Los Angeles, United States.
According to police, bystanders at the scene confronted the suspect, attacked him, and shot him before he was detained by authorities early Saturday morning.
Rosario Cervantes, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), identified the suspect as 29-year-old Fernando Ramirez. He has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
US media reported that Ramirez had been ejected from the Vermont Hollywood nightclub in East Hollywood shortly before the incident, which occurred around 2 a.m. local time (09:00 GMT) on Saturday.
Authorities say he then intentionally rammed his vehicle into the crowd gathered outside the venue.
