Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif says the threat of an attack from India still persists, but Islamabad is fully prepared to respond and defend its rights.
In an interview with Geo News, Asif claimed India made two or three attempts to target certain Pakistani cities on Wednesday.
He said in some cities, lights were deliberately turned off as a precautionary measure to avert potential attacks from the enemy.
“We are ready. This is an equation that needs to be resolved. We do not accept India’s actions and will not allow them to go unanswered,” he added.
On the recent escalation, Asif remarked:“The issue that started two weeks ago has yet to be resolved. If India takes action without presenting evidence or justification, we are prepared to respond. Pakistan must assert its rights.”
The defence minister explained: “If we respond now, we have legitimate reasons for doing so – but we will not target Indian cities.”
This comes as relations between Pakistan and India have become increasingly strained following an armed attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22.
