Pakistan has lost four security personnel in a militant attack on a checkpoint in the North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The check-post came under attack in the Darweshta area of Spinwam sub-district early Monday morning, Dawn reported, city local sources.
The assault triggered an intense exchange of fire, with both sides using heavy and light weapons.
Four security personnel were killed and two others injured. The casualties were airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu.
According to the report, three of the assailants were also killed in the firefight — followed by a search operation.
Also on Monday, the military’s media wing said 10 suspected were killed in an encounter with security forces in Khyber district.
A statement from ISPR said the rebels were killed in an intelligence-based operation in the Bagh area of Khyber.

A convoy of 29 trucks, transporting blaster copper from the Saindak project to Karachi, was attacked in the Mangochar area of Kalat district.
An improvised explosive device in planted on the main highway exploded when the convoy reached the area. Eight security personnel and a truck driver were injured in the blast.
