A joint assessment by the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU) and World Bank (WB) showed that the rebuilding of Gaza strip needed over $53 billion.
This assessment showed the rebuilding and rehabilitation of Gaza needed $53.2 billion, with $20 billion needed in the first three years of the next 10 years period.
Simultaneously, two Egyptian officials confirmed to Reuters on Thursday that the president of this country has left Cairo for Riyadh carrying a $20 billion draft plan for rebuilding Gaza.
The officials of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirate (UAE) and Qatar are going to hold their consultations on this issue in Riyadh, and then present their plan at a meeting in Cairo two weeks later, which is expected to be held on February 21.
Before this, the US president Donald Trump said that Gaza land was not a livable location after the war adding the Palestinians needed to be relocated to Egypt or Jordan before rebuilding the Gaza. However, the Trump’s plan was opposed by Arab countries.
The assessment comes after Hamas agreed last month to release 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners during a six-week ceasefire and the Israeli forces will withdraw from some positions of Gaza.
So far 48,219 Palestinians mostly women and children had been killed as a result of Israeli forces attacks in Gaza.
