The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says 14.3 million Afghans need health services this year, but the agency will be able to provide such assistance to only 9.3 million people.
OCHA said in a statement, it needed $279.7 million for health services and other forms of aid in the country in the first quarter of 2025.
The organisation said 53% of those in need of health assistance were women, while the rest were children and special people.
In 2025, 22.9 million people in Afghanistan will need humanitarian assistance, and an estimated $2.24 billion will be required to meet their needs.
At least 14.3 million people would need healthcare services in Afghanistan this year, OCHA said, adding it would be able to provide only 9.3 million Afghans with assistance.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) provided health services to about 154,000 needy Afghans in November last year.
Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health has not yet commented on this.
