Germany has deported more than 1,300 Afghan migrants last year, says a media report.
Deutsche Welle reported on Wednesday, citing the Germany’s Ministry of Interior, that a total of 1,361 Afghan migrants were transferred from Germany to Afghanistan or other countries in 2024.
The report indicated that some Afghan migrants were sent back to Afghanistan, while others were deported to countries responsible for handling their asylum cases according to the Dublin Regulation.
The Dublin Regulation pertains to the management of asylum applications within European Union member states, determining which country is responsible for processing an asylum seeker’s application.
According to the report, the deportation rate of migrants from Germany increased by approximately 20 percent in 2024 compared to the previous year.
On August 30, 2024, Germany deported 28 Afghan asylum seekers, who had been convicted of crimes to Afghanistan.
The German government intensified deportations following violent actions involving certain Afghan nationals within the country.
