Eight Afghan nationals were killed and 18 others rescued after a speedboat sank off the Rhodes Island in eastern Greece, a media report said on Sunday.
The Associated Press, citing the Greek Coast Guard, reported the speedboat was fleeing when it capsized in the Rhodes Island.
Eight Afghan migrants lost their lives while 18 others, including 12 men and three women, were rescued by coast guards, the report added.
Greece officials said the rescued Afghans had been evacuated to hospital and one of them was in critical condition.
The Greek Coast Guard arrested two Turkish citizens, 23-year-old and 19-year-old, on charges of smuggling the migrants.
Greece is one of the main routes to the European Union, and migrants try to find their way to Europe via this country.
