The 28th meeting of foreign ministers from Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) countries is being held in Iran, a media report said on Monday.
IRNA reported a preparatory session, featuring 20 delegations from member countries, began at 9:00am to firm up the agenda for the foreign ministerial meeting, slated for Tuesday.
“The 28th ECO foreign ministers’ meeting began in Mashad on Monday in the presence of experts. The ministerial meeting will be held tomorrow (Tuesday),” the report added.
According to IRNA, 20 foreign delegations will be attending the meeting.
ECO is a regional organisation founded by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey in 1985 to promote economic and cultural cooperation among member countries.
The number of ECO members increased to 10 with the admission of seven new countries, including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Pajhwok tried to get the view of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul regarding the meeting and Afghanistan’s participation in it, but did not succeed.
