Amid escalating violence, more than a dozen security personnel have been killed in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
At least eight security personnel were killed and three others wounded in fierce gun battles with suspected militants in Tirah valley.
Nine alleged fighters were also killed in the heavy exchange of gunfire, following an attack on a military camp, said an official, who did not want to be named.
Elsewhere in the province, several security force members were killed in a suicide attack Bannu district on Tuesday.
Dawn reported 11 personnel lost their lives in the attack near the Mali Khel checkpoint in Janikhel area.
The suicide bombing and gunfire triggered a gunfight between the attackers and security personnel.
Separately, seven policemen who had been kidnapped from a check post in the restive city were recovered safely by police, with the help of tribal elders.
