More than 86,000 Afghan refugees returned from Iran and Pakistan to their country within a week the International Organization for Migration (IOM) says.
IOM Afghanistan branch in a report on social media platform X yesterday said 86,678 Afghan refugees returned to their country from Iran and Pakistan from September 8 to 14.
And during this period, the organization, said 57193 Afghans left the country.
The report noted an increase in the return of refugees from Iran either voluntarily or forcibly.
Recently, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi in a meeting in Kabul with ambassadors and representatives of international organizations asked neighboring countries to exercise restraint regarding the expulsion of refugees:
“The stability of Afghanistan is in the interest of all, until Afghanistan recovers from the effects of 45 years of war and stands on its own feet, we want all countries to exercise patience and caution in repatriating refugees, treat them well and show good hospitality,” Muttaqi had said.
