Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Mirwais Ashraf and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Naseeb Khan attended the Asian Cricket Council’s Executive Board meeting.
Chaired by ACC President Jay Shah, the meeting was held on Monday in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, ACB said in a statement.
Cooperation between ACC member countries, ACC’s ongoing events and programmes for 2024 and new membership applications from Uzbekistan, the Philippines, and Mongolia came up for discussion.
Securing sponsorship and media rights for ACC events from 2024 to 2031 was also discussed, according to the statement.
ACC’s Development Committee also presented its plans for 2025 and 2026 calendars with a focus on enhancing cricketing opportunities for all member nations.
The ACC agreed to allow Uzbekistan, the Philippines and Mongolia to participate in future pathway events and provide them an opportunity to showcase their talent.
ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf also discussed enhanced ties with neighbouring cricket boards. Ashraf and his Bangladeshi counterpart also talked about their all-format series.
He extended a formal request to ACC to give hosting rights to Afghanistan as well in its mega events.
