After Germany, Austria is the second European country that plans to deport Afghan migrants convicted of crimes to their homeland.
Last Friday, the government of Germany repatriated 28 Afghan asylum seekers accused or convicted of different offences to Afghanistan.
According to the BBC, Austria has become the second European country that intends to deport the Afghan asylum seekers accused/convicted of crimes.
Vienna was jointly working with Berlin to send the criminal asylum seekers back to their country, the report said.
Austrian Prime Minister Karl Nehammer said: “The ministry of interior of Austria has held long discussions with Germany to find a way of sending such asylum seekers back to Afghanistan; it sends such people to Syria as well. The next step will be to send such people directly to Afghanistan and Syria.”
Earlier, Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner hailed Germany’s move to deport the first group of Afghans in three years.
Amnesty International (AI) slammed the deportation of Afghans from Germany as a breach of international law.
