All 22 people on board a Russian helicopter that crashed in the picturesque Kamchatka peninsula have been killed, says an official.
The bodies of all those killed — 19 passengers and three crewmembers — in the Mi-8 helicopter crash had been recovered, state-run news agency TASS reported.
Regional Emergencies Minister Sergey Lebedev was quoted as saying the bodies had been handed over to forensics experts.
“The search and rescue operation is over,” the official wrote on the VKontakte social media platform, extending condolences to the victims’ families.
The wreckage of the chopper, which had gone missing on August 31, was found in the Vachkazhets mountain range on September 1.
Owned by Vityaz-Aero, the helicopter crashed while flying from the Vachkazhets mountain range to Nikolayevka.
The crash, which occurred in low visibility conditions, was reportedly caused by a pilot error, the report suggested.
