Unidentified gunmen have shot death 23 passengers after offloading them from buses in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, a media report said on Monday.
The attack took place in the Musakhail district of Balochistan on Monday morning, Dawn reported, citing local sources.
Assistant Commissioner Najeeb Kakar was quoted as saying: “Armed men blocked the inter-provincial highway in the Rarasham area of the district and offloaded passengers from several buses.”
The victims reportedly hailed from Punjab province, Kakar said, adding the armed men also set fire to 10 vehicles.
“Vehicles travelling to and from Punjab were inspected, and individuals from Punjab identified and shot at,” the official said.
Police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to hospital. At least three of the victims were from Balochistan.
Four months back, nine passengers were ordered down the bus they were travelling in near the Noshki city of the province before being gunned down.
