The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has banned batter Ihsanullah Janat from all forms of cricket for five years for breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
In a statement, ACB said: “Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which involves improper influence or efforts to fix the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of a match.”
Following the violation, Janat had been handed a five-year ban from all cricket related activities, the game regulator said.
Janat, who breached the Anti-Corruption Codes in the second edition of the Kabul Premier League (KPL), also confessed to his involvement in corruption.
The ACB Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) revealed three other players were also under suspicion for involvement in match-fixing, and investigations were underway against them.
Decisions regarding their involvement will be made upon confirmation of their guilt.
Article 2 of the offences under the Anti-Corruption Code of ICC says: “Fixing or contriving in any way or otherwise influencing improperly, or being a party to any agreement or effort to fix or contrive in any way or otherwise influence improperly, the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of any match, including (without limitation) by deliberately underperforming therein.”
