Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Ali Wazir has once again been arrested by Islamabad police.
Following his arrest in connection with an accident on Saturday, he was later produced before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) that remanded him in police custody for six days.
Two motorbikes collided before one of them hit the vehicle of the ex-member of the National Assembly, Dawn quoted sources as saying.
Wazir took the injured motorcyclist to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
At the hospital, Wazir informed the police the motorcyclist had suffered minor injuries but when they tried to arrest him, the former legislator asked for the reason.
Journalist Allah Noor Wazir, who happened to be at PIMS, started capturing the scene on his mobile phone.
The police personnel reportedly attempted to snatch the journalist’s phone but failed to get hold of it, sources told the newspaper.
Later, the ex-lawmaker was produced before ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra. Prosecutor Raja Naveed sought Wazir’s physical remand, alleging he had manhandled the cops and snatched gun from one of them.
However, the PTM leader rejected the allegations as untrue, explaining he had only taken the injured motorcyclist to the hospital.
